I spent two weeks visiting my dad in Minnesota. He passed away last week and I’m going to take some time away. I’ll be back: food and preparing food is that important part of life that will always exist. I like to do both too much to stop blogging.
Grief is a fickle thing- one minute I’m smiling and remembering what a wise and funny man my dad was, the next minute I’m bawling and looking for more tissues. I know death is inevitable but I still want him to come walking around the corner with a smile on his face saying “Heyyyy, Audrey’s here!”
Dad was 85 and his health slowly became a problem in the last few years. I was with him last August through his wife’s death from Alzheimer’s and thought that was difficult enough for him. Little did I know it was practice for me for his own funeral just 7 months later. He had it all planned but it was still hard. Oh so hard.
As the oldest of 5 I have some family matters to take care of before I can put it all behind me and just remember the good things. It’s a temporary sad turn, it will get better. He has his children, his 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren to carry on family memories and traditions. We will remember him.
So sorry for your loss Audrey. Having been through it, I can relate to the grief. My heartfelt condolences. Take care.

Sorry to hear this. A very sad day indeed. No amount of words can really comfort, hopefully these few can add some to it.
