I’ve made and even posted many dump cake recipes.  Cherry Crunch Dump Cake was the first one I tried and we loved it. I made a Pineapple Crunch Dump Cake this year that I liked even more.  When I saw a recipe on Facebook a few days ago that was essentially the same but made in a crockpot in 2 1/2 hours, I was eager to try it.  I used the suggested can of cranberry sauce and can of apple pie filling.  Totally delicious! The second post for “redo” week was a more recent post.  I was going to immortalize my Grandma Lil’s fresh apple cake with a post but neither my mother nor I were sure we had the right recipe.  I made the cake but one taste and I knew what I made wasn’t Grandma’s recipe.  Close but no cigar.  It was good but not memorable like Grandma’s cake.  We were stumped. My Thompson grandparents had an orchard with plums, crab apples and regular apples.  Grandma Lil made all kinds of pickles and wine and baked goods using the fruit from her orchard.  One of my absolute favorite things she made was a raw apple cake.  Then she’d throw together a caramel sauce from scratch to drizzle over it and I would pretty much lick the plate when I was done.
