The temperature is down to the 60s and 70s suddenly. From record breaking heat to comfortably cool, it’s fall. Fall doesn’t last long here; winter moves in fast. Snow in October isn’t unusual. Up North we dig out our coats, boots and gloves and shrug. We spent Christmas in Minnesota with my dad.  He watches what he eats and refuses to eat white foods for the most part.  We’d planned to roast a turkey and I wanted a new vegetable side dish since we were skipping mashed potatoes.  When I ran across the recipe for roasted Brussels sprouts and butternut squash on a blog I was intrigued.  I showed it to my P.S. and he said “Make it!”  It was a done deal. A few years ago I started to read food blogs at work.  Guilty!  I admit that during the slow times at the office I surfed several food blogs regularly.  My first and most favorite food blog was Macheesmo.  I liked reading a blog by a man who cooked.  He was a man who cooked creatively without boxes and cans.  It was a new idea in my world and I was hooked.
