I had another ham bone to use, courtesy of the crockpot spiral ham I made before Easter. When I’d made my last pot of bean soup I brought some to my Dad. He mentioned using cloves for seasoning. I was intrigued. He said to add the whole cloves from the start so they soften and are edible later in the soup. I liked the idea of clove seasoning in the soup and couldn’t wait to have a ham bone to make more bean soup! Continue reading

Beef pot roast isn’t one of my favorite meats.  It has to have a hook, a pop, that elevates it over the pot roast my Mom used to make.  When I found this Scandinavian recipe that uses dried fruit, cinnamon and ginger, I couldn’t wait to try it.  I would change it to a crockpot recipe and the wonderful smells would float through the castle for hours! This is a recipe where I amazed myself.  I’ve never made a spiral ham, nor have I made a ham in the crockpot.  We dine out on Easter; it’s the one holiday that I don’t cook.  So when my P.S. (Purchases Surprises/ hubby) brought home an almost 9 lb spiral cut ham, I was temporarily stumped.  I had no idea if it should be cooked or just eaten as is.  Pinterest to the rescue!  Then, bam!
