Creamy Spinach Pasta with Ham or Shrimp

I was yearning for something creamy and rich for dinner.  I wanted pasta with a creamy sauce full of spinach and shrimp. I would use my go-to recipe for a creamy sauce and add spinach at the end. I would simply  separate the sauce between two skillets, add pasta and ham to one and pasta and shrimp to the other.  A good handful of Parmesan for each, with more for garnish, and my craving would be appeased. Lemon Pasta with Ham and Black Olives

The first time I made spaghetti with a lemon sauce we were thrilled with the flavors.  I used leftover chicken, some black olives and shaved Parmesan.  It was a blending of delightful flavors that we decided we wanted to add to our pasta rotation.  Four years later, shame on us!  We haven’t had it once!  I did however have plenty of ham and wanted to simply substitute it for the chicken.  We’d have a lemony, ham pasta dish. Simple White Bean Soup

My Dad loves to make soup with ham shank and beans.  I also like to make bean soup but I don’t use the same spices.  In fact I used very few for this soup and it was delicious.  I only used a little garlic powder, salt and pepper and the ham flavor came through  very well.  The vegetables add a nice layer of flavor of course but this is ham and bean soup at its simplest.
