After making 3 pound cakes from a new recipe, of course I had to make trifle.  It’s a family favorite and my P.S. had a birthday coming up.  We were having a party over Memorial Day to celebrate another year in the life of my Princely Spouse and he really, really likes trifle!  Pound cake being our version of sponge cake, I had enough to make a large trifle with two of the cakes. There was a stand selling peaches and cherries in the parking lot of a box store the other day.  We already had cherries but the idea of grilled peaches drew me.  I not only bought 5# of peaches, I bought another bag of cherries.  Once I tasted them I needed to buy both fruits.  Fruit is my Achilles heel.  I could easily be a fruititarian.  Is there such a thing?  There should be!  In honor of peaches, we’re going to have a peachy week! Pumpkin Trifle with Applesauce Doughnuts

One of the chefs on ‘The Chew’ made a trifle using layers of torn doughnuts instead of ladyfingers or pound cake.  Cinnamon applesauce doughnuts!  I imagined them buried between creamy layers of pumpkin mousse and whipped topping.  Trifle heaven!  I decided a pumpkin trifle needed to be made- the whole thing screamed “Thanksgiving!” Continue reading
